This is a pile of crap clickbait article trying to be thought leadership. Yes, research needs to be grounded in reality and literal user reactions. Yes, researchers needs to spend less time deliberating on what to do and just start doing something. But sprints are not a panacea, they are part of a mixed methods toolkit to validate and refine. Most research is done so poorly that it appears like a waste of time but the underlying reasons for poor results from traditional research can sink any design sprint too. Knowing what to ask, who to ask and considering why they should care needs to be the priority, not buying into one dogmatic model or another. If you don’t understand who you are designing for and the irrational shield they put, will sink any project.
